That road eventually brought me to Toronto, where I studied music at York University. I've been a professional musician and music educator since 1988.\r\n\r\nOver the years I've had the chance to tour with Fritz McIntyre (keyboardist for Simply Red) on his solo project, and in 2007 I shared the stage with original Yardbirds drummer Jim McCarty and original Faces guitarist Robin Le Mesurier. I gig regularly with many of Canada's finest musicians, including Mark McLean, Mark Kelso, David Langguth, Mike Borkosky, Sean Kilbride, Paul DeLong, Chris Cawthray, Dan Clancy, Lisa Patterson, Juno winners Michael Occhipinti and Paul Neufeld, Quisha Wint, Don Pham, Lester McLean, Bruno Ierullo, and Bruce Dies.\r\n\r\nSince 2009 I've been a member of Kiran Ahluwalia's band, touring across the US, Europe, and Canada \u2014 with dates at WOMEX Copenhagen, the London Jazz Festival, the San Francisco Jazz Center, and the Edmonton and Vancouver Folk Festivals. I've played on her last three studio albums, including Aam Zameen: Common Ground, which earned her a Juno Award. Through that work I've also had the privilege of recording and performing with Rez Abbasi, widely regarded as one of the finest jazz guitarists working today. I'm a member of the house band at Hugh's Room Live in Toronto, and will be touring with Shakura S'Aida in the summer of 2026.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"\" class=\" I have never lost the love of teaching. For me, there is a great pleasure in seeing the look on a young person\u2019s face when they realize that they can actually play something they\u2019ve heard, or something they\u2019ve admired. I'm lucky in that my clients afford me the opportunity to \u2018be the method\u2019.  I can take the time to tailor lessons for each student and make sure that I can engage them fully, working my own requirements into custom-made material that will appeal to them.  \r\n<br><br>\r\nMost of my students study guitar, and this year I was happy and proud that one of them who I've been with since he was 9 years old gained admission to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston.
